Yesterday, O.L.A welcomed back a former student and All Whites Captain Ryan Nelsen. The children at school were buzzing with joy and were presented with a pedometer that the children will wear from Monday 24th recording their distance. Our aim is 160,000km. We are wanting to walk with the All Whites to South Africa. This is sponsored by McDonalds - Me Greatest Feat.
Ryan Nelsen shared with the school his memories at O.L.A and also how much harder it is to compete at the Football World Cup (232 Countries compete for 32 places). Well done the All Whites.
The All White have not been in a World Cup since 1982 Spain. In that team we had the likes of Wynton Rufer and Ricky Herbert (Current Coach of the All Whites and Wellington Phoenix). The country got behind the team, and one item I can remember is the biscuit tins with the team photo on it. Remember, even if your not a football nut that we have an old boy playing and give your support to the All Whites.
In the afternoon, we played some football in the hall. The children had fun, but not many goals were scored. Some people got very serious and legs were flying every where.
