Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori

Today, the children experienced writing a story in Te Reo Maori to celebrate Maori Language Week. As a class we read the story Te Taniwha me te Poraka. This is a story about a sneaky Taniwha behind a frog. The children all participated in reading the story especially the parts that repeated
Kia tupato, Poraka (Be careful Frog)
E peke! (Jump)
Kia tere! (Be quick)

I have displayed Phoebe's story about Te Rakiraki me Te Ngeru (The duck and the cat). She illustrated the pictures on the ActiveBoard. The children are learning to read their stories. Hopefully by the end of the week, they can share it with their families.

Fantastic Handwriting

In class we have been practising to slope and correctly form our letters. This week I have been impressed with the continued improvement of Phoebe R, John E and Brooke C in their handwriting.
Below is an example of their fantastic writing.

Keep up the great focus and effort in your handwriting. Well done Phoebe, John and Brooke.
