South West Zones

Today, we had six children in the M team compete at the South West Zones with 50 other children in the A team. The children from the M team were Finn Sul, Finn M, Samuel Sull, Jamie D, Madeline H and Olivia B.

The children in the M team competed very well with some fantastic jumps and fantastic sprints. Olivia B came 1st in one of her sprints and Jamie Dwyer came 3rd in the 9 year olds 1000m. As a receive results I will post them on the blog. This will be a great practise for the children for next year.

In my opinion the funniest part of the day was when Finn M was walking to Hillmorton High School and he collided in to a rubbish bin. Luckily the bin was empty and crashed on to the road. Finn's face went as red as a tomato but he was fine, and raced pretty well even making the final for the 80m sprint.

Well done to all children who represented O.L.A today.

Top effort!!!

Athletics 2010

Today, OLA School held our Athletics Day. The children participated in hurdles, long jump, shot put, discus, high jump and the track events. All the children participated and achieved personal bests in events. Well done to all the children especially Rm 8.

All your parents and also your teacher, were very proud of how you participated.
The lucky children 9 years and above, if qualified, will compete in the South West School Zone Athletics early November.

The house relays did not disappoint with Red winning. A big surprise! Followed by Green, Yellow third and fourth Blue.

The Parent - Teacher - House Leaders relay was ...
well the house leaders had no chance, but I must admit the parents ran a great race and won. The teachers were quick and not being sour the teachers were interfered with in the race. I have the bruises to prove it! Thanks Roger W!!!!!!

Parents, if you have any photos from the day could I please have some for the blog. You can send them to my email abraham.atherton@ola.schoool.nz or bring them in to class.

Thanks for a great day.
