Persuasive Writing Competition

Dear Children,

In class we have been learning to state our position on a subject. We have been using statements like...
I think...
In my opinion...
I am against...
Recently we have begun to insert emotive language to increase the impact on the audience when reading.

The competition is to write a strong 'Statement of Position' for the following subject.

"People shouldn't be allowed to travel overseas until they have travelled through New Zealand."

Firstly, are you for it or against it.
Remember our success criteria we developed in class.
Please ensure you check your spelling and punctuation.

Good luck.

The competition closes on Friday 28th May.

Komodo Dragon Descriptive Writing Competition

At the end of last term I posted a competition asking children to write their best description about the menacing komodo dragon. Not many people entered however the children who did used descriptive language linking with facts about the komodo dragon. Well done.

The winner of the competition is Cian H. He won the book "The Dangerous Book for Boys"

Winner description:

The komodo dragon sees a pig and the pig goes up to the komodo dragon and touches it. The pig becomes very ill and the komodo dragon rips it in half and swallows it in four big bites and the pig is killed.

Well done Cian. Another competition will be posted shortly and we will be using our skills we are learning in our 'Persuasive Writing'.
