Exploring Movement Through Dance!

Over the past two weeks Room 8 have explored elements of dance. The children learnt about movements in unison, as a canon, and the various levels. The children used their own knowledge sharing with us the air guitar, head banging and the robots. Above are a few photos of the children in Room 8 enjoying dance.

The Seasons Reflect God's Presence

This week we begun to explore the God strand in our Religious Education programme. The focus is 'God is Present in the World'.

The children this week looked at how God is present in creation and explore briefly how the seasons reflect God's presence.

The children listened to Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.


The children also experienced the Byrds singing the famous song from the 1960s.

Fantastic Handwriting

In class we have been practising to slope and correctly form our letters. This week I have been impressed with the continued improvement of Phoebe R, John E and Brooke C in their handwriting.

Our School Environment

This week the children in Room 8 have been mapping our school grounds. The children have noted where we have trees, the areas of our school that are quiet and where they have the most fun. This was an interesting task for the children to walk around and explore their environment.

Olivia wrote
The most interesting area is the playground.
The noisy area of school is by Room 1,2,3 and 9. (The court area)
You can have the most fun playing at the back of the field, playing in and with the grass.

Enda wrote
The quiet area of school is in the hall.
The noisy area of the school if the court and playground.
The area for fun is the field.
The peaceful and comfortable area of our school is the classrooms.

This morning we talked about our environment and the children went on many tangents. They were interested in New Zealands past and how the country use to look, volcanoes in New Zealand and the great kauri tree Tane Mahuta.

Triathlon Looming!

Dear Parents,



Today we had a run through of the triathlon and the children displayed great determination. It has been a pleasure to see the children progress in their running, swimming and now cycling.



I have been consistently amazed with the improvement and effort the children in the M team have been putting into training for the triathlon.


The times are on the school website, with the newsletters and the sports link. These are approximate, so please be early to ensure you do not miss your child's race.

The day will be fun and we would love to see you.

Descriptive Writing - Gustave The Crocodile

Over the past few weeks the children in the Room 8 writing class have been writing descriptions about animals. We first looked at the majestic tiger and then Gustave a large male Nile crocodile that plagues rivers in Burundi.

The children were learning how to use decriptive language to make their stories exciting and engaging for the reader.

The stories attached were very descriptive and engaging.

Well done to Luka, Lucy, Evelyn, Grace and Nikaylah.
