Once upon a time there were three chubby little pigs who lived with their Mother. One day their Mother said "It is time for you to go and find your own house for you to live in. Don't make it the easy way or the wolf could smash your house and eat you. Now go." So they went. They walked along the path looking for a good spot to build their house. On their way they met a skinny looking man selling straw. The first little pig said "could I please have some of that straw?" "yes" said the man. Then the first little pig ran as fast as a cheetah to a spot he saw before that would be the perfect spot to build a house so he decided to build it there. The other two pigs came past and said "Why is your house made of straw?" "It is easier to build" replied the first little pig. "Have you decided what yours is going to be made of?" "Mine is going to be made of sticks " said the second little pig. "Just remember What mother pig said, Dont make your house the easy way!"

Water Safety day at Kings Swim school

On Friday at Kings swim school it was water safety day. We were learning how to survive if we were in a river. First we got our boards and pushed the water to the centre with our boards. One group had to swim through without goggles! Then we swapped over and we got to swim through the current that the other group made. This was to make the conditions more like a river. Next we got into a circle and held hands and moved anti clockwise then quickly moved clockwise. It was difficult to move against the current when we changed direction but it made a whirlpool. Did you know, on average 105 New Zealanders die each year from Drowining. So you can see why when you ask your parents if you can stop swimming lessons, they say "NO!"

Short stories for Room 8 reading

This week in room 8 reading class we are reading books that are short but have a lot of information in four pages. At the end there are questions that we have to answer in full sentences. My favourite book would be 'Art of Animation' because it shows you how to make your own animation. The good thing about these books is that they don't take long to read but the bad thing is if you really like the book you want it to continue. Does anyone else have a favourite book?

Polar Bears - Information Report

Polar bears have the longest neck than any other bear. Their heads appear smaller. Their muscles are well developed in the hind legs and neck.

The polar bears skin is actually black so the sun shines at the polar bear and makes
them warm!

Polar bears swim by dog paddling with their and most of their back above water. Polar bears are great swimmers and will swim from ice-floe to ice-floe. Polar bears are meat eaters or carnivores and are well suited to the cold Arctic ice and snow.

They hunt sea bird by coming up underneath them. They also eat crab and shellfish from shallow water.

There are lots of species of bears but the polar bears are by far the most dangerous specie of bear.

The Killer Whale

The Killer Whale

The enormous brightly coloured black and white killer whale works in pods and is cunning, quick and fierce. He can leap out of the high waters, and land directly on its prey, not killing it but training itself by throwing the prey up in the air and catching it with the tip of the amazing killer whales nose.
The shiny black and white killer whale doesn’t harm the seal but brings it back to the shore; no one knows why all the rest he caught he ate.
The big killer whale could scare anything with his beady eyes and scary skills. Most seals don’t like going in the sea.
