
I have been learning about the Whale Shark.
Here's some facts for you:
- They are the biggest fish in the sea.
- They are very slow travellers, moving at around 3 mph-5mph.
- Whale Sharks can have 300 pups.
- They are carnivores with their favourite meal is plankton.
- They can not survive in cold water (less than 30 degrees celsius).
- Whale Sharks have 3,000 teeth (but they're very small).
- The average weight of the Whale Shark is 18.7 tonnes.
- The largest whale shark ever measured was12.2 metres long (similar to the size of a bus).
- Whale sharks have been sighted off the coasts of of Australia, India, the Maldives, South Africa, Belize, Mexico, the Galapagos Islands, Southeast Asia and Indonesia.
- Human fishermen are a predator of the Whale Shark.
