Kia Ora Parents,
We have had a lot happen since I posted last. The school celebrated Catholic School Day and our Year 4 children celebrated their First Holy Communion.
Currently the children in Room 8 are taking notes in their inquiry study of 'Serving Our Country'. Some of the notes have been published into their PowerPoint slides.
I was pleased with the variety of questions the children came up with. We had questions about animals at war, the Vietnam war and how was the fighting different, the causes of war and the role women played in the war. Your should be very proud of your children, as they have worked solidly and been determined to answer their big questions.
The children are being reminded to take home their FRoGS book and reading material home every night. Some of the reading material may be easy, however the children have activities they have to do in class that extends their understanding of the text.
In maths at the moment we are exploring addition and subtraction. Each lesson we do a 5 minute frenzy on addition facts up to 20, 100problems. Currently we have 7 students finishing and each day children are improving their scores. Hopefully by end of Term 3 all children will be finishing 100 problems within the 5 minutes.
Upcoming events: Parent-Teacher Interviews (not interrogation)
Thanks for sending back your questionnaires. If you have any additional questions you would like answered after you receive your child's portfolio, please feel free to email me and I can plan a 'great' answer for the interview. Also please do not hesitate if you have questions about your children's learning.
Many thanks
Mister A
