Next Term: "Serving Our Country"

Dear Parents,

Next term, we are looking at the topic 'Serving Our Country', with an emphasis on the defence forces (Navy, Army and Air Force) as well as our Anzac's.

To make the topic relevant and engaging for the children I am wanting to make a wall display of photos of family members who may have served in the Army, Navy or Air Force. This may be great-grandparents, grandparents or uncles and aunties. Any photos provided I will scan or photocopy and give you back the original, or photos can be emailed to me.

I would like to get this wall display up during the holidays, so that the first week of Term 2 will be engaging leading up to Anzac Day.

This is a picture of my grandfather, Peter. I only knew him for a few years in my childhood before he passed away.

He served in the 28th Maori Battalion with some of his brothers.

Before they went and served their country in World War 2, their mother made the boys all have photos in army uniform, in case they did not come home.

I knew little about my grandfather and the war, however I have found information recently and it has been very interesting.

Let us honour the men and women who serve our country.

Any photos would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mister A
